Dexter Simmons and Brigitte Staggs are helping to direct two plays that will be performed Thursday and Friday at the USC Upstate Performing Arts Center.

“The Audition,” a play performed by teens, will be held twice on Thursday, at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The younger drama students, third through sixth graders, will perform “Biggity Bad and the Three Little Pigs” at 6 p.m. Friday.

Upstate theater students, Simmons and Staggs are both camp counselors.

“I am a kid at heart and learned from the camp it brings a smile to my face,” Simmons said.

Simmons dreams of performing on Broadway but is studying to work in therapeutic theater. Drama therapy uses drama or theater processes to achieve therapeutic goals.

“Directing the younger kids is going pretty good,” Staggs said. “Little kids are an interesting bunch.”

Staggs is studying to work in theater as a professional. She has worked with the Greenville Little Theatre and Boys and Girls Club in the past.

Admission is $3 for all ages. Call 864-503-5621 or email for more information.
