‘Rocktoberfest’ brings Halloween festivities to campus Friday
By Megan Robinson
Save the date and plan your Halloween costumes for the annual Rocktoberfest on Friday from 5-9 p.m. in the lower Burroughs parking lot. The lot will be closed Thursday and Friday for setup.
The festival will feature music provided by a DJ. Students can have their fill of adrenaline with three large-scale carnival rides, including a Ferris wheel, a Loop-O-Plane, and ride similar to the Scat from last year’s event, on which you stand, lift into the air, and spin.
The fun will continue with three games: basketball shooting, archery, and an inflatable dartboard with Velcro soccer balls. Prizes range from small carnival prizes to custom-made Upstate apparel and items.
Fried Oreos, funnel cakes, and foot-long corndogs will be sold for $3 each. Students will be given $6 in tickets to purchase food items.
The dining hall will be closed, and all students, regardless of their meal plans, will be treated to a free dinner at the event. The menu will include chicken fingers, Halloween-themed desserts, and flavored lemonades.
Roctoberfest is open to faculty, staff and guests, but non-students will pay $5 for meals and $3 per snack.
Staff members are invited to bring their children and families. Student organizations will provide trick-or-treat tables and small games. A caricature artist, a balloon artist, and a magician will also be featured. Guests are encouraged to come in costume and be ready to rock.
