Active shooter reported on campus
UPDATE 2:00 P.M.: ALL CLEAR GIVEN ON CAMPUS AT 1:56 P.M.
Staff Report
The University of South Carolina Upstate campus is in a lockdown for all its facilities, according to campus police.
An active shooter was reported around the campus library and it is unclear if inside or out.
A campus police officer said a shot was fired on campus and the shooter is still at large.
“We know there was a shooting over there,” the officer said pointing in the direction of the library.
“We are not sure where he is and that’s why there’s a campus lockdown,” the officer said.
Campus police were patrolling the campus and some students were being let into buildings to attend scheduled classes. The police officer said the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s office had taken over the manhunt.
Campus police vehicles are strategically parked near buildings the person was last seen. Administration officials have not cancelled scheduled classes at this time.
