“Midnight Pillow” premieres this week
By Andrew Becker
The Shoestring Players will perform director Stephen Unwin’s “Midnight Pillow” this week.
A Shakespearean production calls for an exploration of young lovers’ relationships, and “Midnight Pillow” is no exception.
The production premieres at 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16. Show times Friday and Saturday are 8 p.m., and the final performance Sunday is at 3 p.m.
“Midnight Pillow” brings an ensemble of Shakespearean scenes to Upstate’s stage, which are bound to please (and tease) like only the Bard can.
Lee and Deana Neibert will direct the play, shown at the Main Stage Theatre of the Humanities and Performing Arts Center. General admission is $8, while faculty, staff, and students tickets are $4 – cash or check only.
As former Artistic Director of The Rose Theatre and founder of the English Touring Company, Unwin backed the initial collaboration between the Shoestring Players and The Rose Theatre in London. This partnership has created London internships for Upstate students and provided the opportunity for students to perform internationally. The Players’s most recent London production was its originally-devised play performed this summer, “Tapestry”.
